Music boxes

Originally, very simple boxes were played, driven by means of a little handle. The human or animal figurines on them moved to tunes created by a wooden mechanism, which meant a sound quite different from today's boxes. It was not before 1930 that the first music boxes in the true sense of the word were developed. Driven by delicately manufactured metal mechanisms, they can play a wide variety of tunes. Design and colours of the figurine ensembles on the boxes are as diversified as the plucked metal voices. The toy-makers skillfully make angel miniatures and fairy-tale figurines. They depict motifs taken from village life. In particular, the Holy Story with its central event of Christ's birth inspires them.

For some time, Müller Music Boxes have also shown Santa Claus and his winged assistants bringing Christmas gifts. Made of a wide range of natural woods, our well-sounding boxes give proof of their manufacturers' expertise.

Do watch out for our novelties, such as our Forest Idyll where, to a tune independent of the season of the year, Müller figurines designed to show the detail dance under a hand turned tree with leaves.
